How University of Florida calculates GPA
University of Florida (Florida) calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UF grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: UF does NOT award A+. The scale runs A (4.0) down to D- (0.67), with E for failing. Note UF uses the .67/.33 increments (A- = 3.67), not .7/.3.
Failing grade: University of Florida uses "E" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Repeated UF courses are counted in the GPA as many times as they're recorded (all attempts count) — UF does NOT do grade replacement. Credit is awarded only once. Once you earn a C (2.0)+ you generally can't repeat the course.
Academic standing
Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA to graduate; GPA shown to two decimals and never rounded up (e.g. 3.248 displays as 3.24).
Good to know
Two UF specifics: failing is 'E' (not F), and there is no A+. UF also uses .67/.33 grade points (A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33), and truncates the displayed GPA rather than rounding up. All repeat attempts count toward the GPA — there's no grade forgiveness.
