About GPACalculatorHQ

Free GPA and CGPA tools built on source-verified university formulas, with honest, estimate-labeled conversions.

GPACalculatorHQ is a free set of tools for students working with grades — calculating GPA and CGPA, converting CGPA to a percentage, converting grades to a US 4.0 GPA for study abroad, and planning the grades needed to hit a target. Everything runs in your browser and is free to use.

Why we built it

Most CGPA-to-percentage calculators online apply a single formula — usually “multiply by 9.5” — behind a university dropdown that doesn't actually change the maths. That's a problem, because Indian universities genuinely use different conversion formulas. The same 8.5 CGPA can be 80.75% at one university and 85% at another. Using the wrong formula can put your percentage above or below an eligibility cut-off incorrectly — on a job form, a PSU application, or a higher-studies portal where it actually matters.

How we build our formulas

This is the part we care about most. For each university, we build the conversion formula from a primary source — the university's own examination circular, ordinance, Senate/EC resolution, or grading handbook — not from aggregator sites that copy each other. Each university's page shows the formula and a link to the document it came from, with a verification status, so you can check our work.

When we can't confirm a formula from an official document, we say so rather than guessing. A status of “verified” means a human has confirmed it against the cited primary source — it is never assigned automatically.

On estimates and honesty

Some conversions are genuinely estimates, and we label them as such. Converting a CGPA to a US GPA, or comparing grades across countries, has no single official answer — only a paid credential evaluation (WES, ECE) is authoritative. Where a number is an estimate, our pages say so and point you to the official route. We would rather tell you something is uncertain than pretend a precision we don't have.

We also try to be honest on the subjective questions — “what CGPA do I need for placements / an MS / a PSU job” — by giving ranges and pointing to the authority that actually decides (your placement cell, the programme, the registrar), rather than inventing a confident cut-off.

Privacy

The calculators run entirely in your browser. We don't ask you to log in, and your grades and inputs aren't sent to or stored on our servers. See our privacy policy for the full detail, including the third-party analytics and advertising services the site uses.

Found a mistake?

If you spot an error — especially in a university formula — please tell us, ideally with a link to the official source. Corrections from primary documents are exactly how this site stays accurate.
