How University of Central Florida calculates GPA
University of Central Florida (Florida) calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UCF grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: UCF does NOT award A+, and uses 0.25 plus/minus steps instead of the usual 0.33 — so A- = 3.75 (not 3.67) and B+ = 3.25 (not 3.33).
Failing grade: University of Central Florida uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
UCF offers Grade Forgiveness: for an eligible repeated course the new grade replaces the original in the GPA, while both attempts stay on the transcript.
Academic standing
A 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA applies for good standing; WF (withdrew failing) counts as 0.0 in the GPA.
Good to know
UCF's distinctive feature is the 0.25 grade-point spacing: A- = 3.75, B+ = 3.25, B- = 2.75, and so on, with no A+. Most calculators wrongly assume 0.33 steps (A- = 3.67), which understates a UCF GPA. UCF also counts WF as a 0.0 failing grade and offers grade forgiveness on eligible repeats.
