How Eastern Washington University calculates GPA
Eastern Washington University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Eastern Washington grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Eastern Washington scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: Eastern Washington University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
The last grade assigned is the one included in the GPA; all attempts remain on the transcript but the earlier attempt is superseded and the cumulative GPA is recalculated.

Good to know
EWU runs on quarters, so the Dean's Honor List threshold of 12 graded credits applies per quarter rather than per semester.
Every figure here was read from Eastern Washington’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
