A+ rule: On the Excelsior scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Excelsior University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).

The most recent grade earned (not the highest) replaces prior attempts in the GPA calculation.

Repeated courses use the most recent grade in GPA calculations rather than the highest grade, so a weaker retake can lower the GPA; no Dean's List program could be found anywhere in Excelsior's published academic policies for this fully online, adult-focused, credit/competency-based university.
