A+ rule: On the New Mexico State scale, A+ is awarded but capped at 4.0, and the scale runs down to D- at 1.0.
Failing grade: New Mexico State University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Undergraduates may repeat a course to change a grade only when the original grade was D or F; once a grade of C- or better is earned on the retake, that grade is substituted in the GPA calculation.

Good to know
The repeated values in the table above are not a mistake. New Mexico State's own grade-point table gives C- the same 2.0 as a C, and gives D+, D and D- all 1.0. The minus and plus appear on the transcript but carry no separate weight at the bottom of the scale, which is unusual and means a C- costs a student nothing against a C.
NMSU's scale is not evenly stepped below B-: C- and C both equal 2.0, and D+, D, and D- are all collapsed to a single 1.0 value, unlike a standard 0.33-step scale.
