Egypt → US GPA

Scale: 0–100%Method: Grade-tier bandStatus: estimateUpdated: 2026-06-23
Unofficial estimate for planning only. Official applications require a WES/ECE credential evaluation; actual results vary by institution tier and course rigor.

How Egypt grades convert to US GPA

Egypt marks in percentages with named tiers (Excellent 85%+, Very Good, Good, Pass). Thanaweya Amma is the secondary certificate; universities use percentages or a 4.0 GPA.

Grade equivalents at a glance

Egypt gradeUS GPA (est.)Meaning
85–100 (Excellent)~3.7–4.0Excellent (Mumtaz)
75–84 (Very Good)~3.3–3.7Very Good (Jayyid Jiddan)
65–74 (Good)~2.7–3.0Good (Jayyid)
60–64 (Pass)~2.3Pass (Maqbul)
< 500.0Fail

Is this competitive for US admission?

An Egyptian 'Very Good' (75%+) is a strong result that converts well; 'Excellent' (85%+) is top-tier. Egyptian marking is strict, so a 75% is not a US 75%. Confirm each programme.

Credential evaluation (WES / ECE)

WES converts Egyptian percentages by tier; the Thanaweya Amma and university records must be verified through official channels.

For the credit-weighted multi-course version, see the WES iGPA calculator. Indian students wanting a percentage instead can use the CGPA to percentage tool.
