How Korean GPA converts to US GPA
Most Korean universities use a 4.5-point scale: A+ = 4.5, A0 = 4.0, B+ = 3.5, B0 = 3.0, C+ = 2.5, C0 = 2.0, D = 1.0–1.5, F = 0. Some use a 4.3 or a 4.0 scale instead — check your transcript's stated maximum. Enter your overall 4.5-scale GPA above (if your scale maxes at 4.3 or 4.0, your result will be close to 1:1).
Why it isn't a simple ×(4.0/4.5): that shortcut under-counts top students — an all-A0 (4.0/4.5) record is straight A's and should map to a US 4.0, not 3.56. US evaluators map grade tiers instead, collapsing A+ and A0 both to 4.0. This tool follows that WES-style tier mapping.

Is this competitive for US & Canada grad school?
US and Canadian master's programmes typically want a US 3.0+ equivalent — roughly a 3.0–3.3 on the Korean 4.5 scale (a solid B average) or higher. Competitive STEM and funded programmes often expect 3.5/4.5 and up. Convert first, then compare against each programme's stated minimum.
Credential evaluation (WES / ECE for US · WES / IQAS / ICES for Canada)
US programmes usually require a WES or ECE course-by-course evaluation; for Canada it's WES Canada, IQAS (Alberta) or ICES (BC). Korean universities issue official English transcripts and (often) a certificate of graduation — sent sealed to the evaluator.
