Converting Amity University Jharkhand (Ranchi) percentage back to CGPA
Amity University Jharkhand (Ranchi) (Jharkhand) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 ('an approximate and indicative equivalence between CGPA and percentage of marks can be assessed by simple mathematical calculation i.e. CGPA multiplied by 10') — Amity University Jharkhand Examination Regulations, para 15(8). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.
Worked example
The official Amity University Jharkhand (Ranchi) formula is % = CGPA × 10 ('an approximate and indicative equivalence between CGPA and percentage of marks can be assessed by simple mathematical calculation i.e. CGPA multiplied by 10') — Amity University Jharkhand Examination Regulations, para 15(8). Starting from a percentage of 80%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8 through the forward Amity University Jharkhand (Ranchi) CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 80%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
Source & verification
Amity University Jharkhand — 'Regulations on Conduct of Examinations, Scheme of Evaluation and Discipline among Students in Examinations' (60-page scan, read by OCR), para 15(8) (PDF p. 33): 'Conversion from Grade Point Averages to percentages of marks do not have rigor or rationale. However, an approximate and indicative equivalence between CGPA and percentage of marks can be assessed by simple mathematical calculation i.e. CGPA multiplied by 10.' Para 15(10) places candidates in divisions by CGPA: 8.5 and above First Class with Distinction; 6.5 but less than 8.5 First Division; 5.0 (UG) / 6.0 (PG) but less than 6.5 Second Division. Grades are awarded on a relative (histogram) basis.
EXPLICIT official rule, which the regulations themselves call 'approximate and indicative' (same wording as Amity University Haryana, amityharyana). The PDF is a scan read by OCR; I corrected obvious OCR slips ('con' → can, 'eatcularion' → calculation, 'multiplisd' → multiplied), so wording may differ slightly from the printed page.
