Converting Bengaluru North University (BNU), Kolar percentage back to CGPA
Bengaluru North University (BNU), Kolar (Karnataka) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (derived; PG M.Com CBCS 2024-25). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.
Worked example
The official Bengaluru North University (BNU), Kolar formula is % = CGPA × 10 (derived; PG M.Com CBCS 2024-25). Starting from a percentage of 78%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 7.8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 7.8 through the forward Bengaluru North University (BNU), Kolar CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 78%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

Regulations Pertaining to Master of Commerce (M.Com.) Programme under CBCS System from 2024-25 onwards, Bengaluru North University (in BNU M.Com 2024-25 Syllabus, BNU official Drive folder linked from bnu.karnataka.gov.in), cl. 10: 'The grade points (GP) in a course shall be assigned based on the basis of actual marks scored in that course as per the table below. They shall be generally percentages divided by 10.' Illustration 1: '% Marks Obtained 77 73 58 76 64 66 82' -> 'Grade Points Earned (G.P.) 7.7 7.3 5.8 7.6 6.4 6.6 8.2'. Cl. 10 also: 'The results ... shall be declared on the basis of Percentage of Aggregate Marks and in terms of Grade Point Average (GPA) and alpha – sign grade.' DERIVED: grade point = marks/10 continuously, so CGPA × 10 approximates the credit-weighted percentage.
Derived formula: BNU's PG regulation makes each course's grade point equal to its percentage divided by 10, and declares results both as aggregate percentage and as GPA/CGPA. Because of credit weighting the two can differ slightly; the regulation's own illustration shows CGPA 7.805 against an aggregate of 78.15%. The official site is bnu.karnataka.gov.in; the old domain bnu.ac.in is stale.
