Converting Government Degree College, Baramulla percentage back to CGPA

Government Degree College, Baramulla (Jammu & Kashmir) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Government Degree College, Baramulla formula is % = CGPA × 10. Starting from a percentage of 83.5%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8.35 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8.35 through the forward Government Degree College, Baramulla CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 83.5%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

Source & verification

University of Kashmir's own Notification No. (Notice-CE-EW)KU/2017, dated 04-07-2017, signed by the Controller of Examinations, states verbatim: 'Conversion of Cumulative Grade Point Average into percentage of marks... the conversion of grade points into percentage of marks is simply obtained by multiplying the former by 10. For instance grade point average of 8.35 means a percentage of 83.5.' Independently corroborated by the university's later 'Annexure-I to Notification No. F (UG Statutes-NEP-2020) Acad/KU/23,' dated 04-08-2023 (updated to April 2026), Section 19, which states the same rule with a different worked example: 'CGPA has to be multiplied by 10. For instance, CGPA of 6.54 out of 10 is equivalent to 65.4%.'

GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, GENUINELY UGC-AUTONOMOUS -- 'College with Potential for Excellence' (CPE). NAAC grade reported inconsistently ('A' per one source, 'A++' per another -- likely different accreditation cycles). Historically significant origin: founded 1905 as an English-medium primary school by Catholic Missionaries Father Ignatius Brower and Rev. Father Simmons, upgraded to High School (1913), Intermediate College (1938), and Degree College (1940/1943, reported inconsistently). Originally affiliated to Punjab University, Lahore (pre-Partition); taken over by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir in 1963; became affiliated to University of Kashmir specifically after the 1969 split of the original Jammu and Kashmir University into separate University of Jammu and University of Kashmir. DISTINCT FROM the University of Jammu cluster researched elsewhere in this registry (Dogra Degree College, GCET Jammu, MIET, etc.) -- Kashmir-region colleges use University of Kashmir's own formula (x10), not University of Jammu's (x9). Formula independently confirmed via two primary University of Kashmir documents six years apart (2017 notification, 2023/2026 FYUGP statutes), among the most solidly-sourced entries in this registry.
