Worked example
The official Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya (Karnataka Folklore University), Gotagodi formula is % = CGPA × 10 (derived — PG regulation Table 17.3 pairs percentage of marks with grade points at one-tenth). Starting from a percentage of 70%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 7 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 7 through the forward Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya (Karnataka Folklore University), Gotagodi CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 70%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

CAUTION: the MBA (RTM) regulation's worked example divides marks by 75 (53/80 shown as 7.07), which does not match its own table — treat the MBA example as a drafting error. Results are also announced on the aggregate of marks (cl. 17.1). SCOPE: PG CBCS programmes (2018-19 regulations). CONTACT GAP: the only published email is a Gmail address.
