This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your college.

Converting National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) percentage back to CGPA

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) (Delhi) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (NIFT: 'may be equated'; no formal formula). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) formula is % = CGPA × 10 (NIFT: 'may be equated'; no formal formula). Starting from a percentage of 80%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8 through the forward National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 80%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

NIFT Examination and Evaluation Policy 2020 (Revised, 21 March 2020), National Institute of Fashion Technology, Annexure 6 'Calculation of SGPA and CGPA': 'NIFT does not follow any conversion formula to convert grade into percentage, however CGPA may be equated to percentage marks by multiplying CGPA by constant value of 10.'

NIFT says it has no official conversion formula, but CGPA 'may be equated' to percentage by multiplying by 10. This applies to all NIFT campuses and all UG/PG programmes under the NIFT-wide Examination and Evaluation Policy 2020 (10-point absolute grading: O = 10, A+ ≥ 9 … D ≥ 4, F < 4). Marks in individual subjects are not declared, only grades.
