Converting Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU), Kolkata percentage back to CGPA
Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU), Kolkata (West Bengal) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (derived: grade point = percentage × 0.10) — UG Prospectus 2026-27. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.
Worked example
The official Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU), Kolkata formula is % = CGPA × 10 (derived: grade point = percentage × 0.10) — UG Prospectus 2026-27. Starting from a percentage of 72%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 7.2 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 7.2 through the forward Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU), Kolkata CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 72%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
Source & verification
Netaji Subhas Open University — UG Prospectus 2026-27, cl. 20 'Grading System' (pp. 49–50): SGPA = Σ(Pi×Ci)/ΣCi of the numerical grade points; 'The multiplicative factors shall be 0.10 for all grades for the purpose of calculating numerical grade points. Example: … If a learner scores 52% in a particular course, his/her grade point for course will be (3.00+0.1×22)=5.20 or simply, 52×0.10=5.2.' Grade table: ≥90% O (CGPA 9.000–10.000) … ≥30% D (3.000–3.999); below 30% F.
DERIVED, not an explicit conversion sentence: grade point = percentage × 0.10 in every course and SGPA/CGPA are credit-weighted averages, so CGPA × 10 = credit-weighted percentage (failed courses carry no grade point). The same clause is in the UG prospectuses of 2021-22, 2022 and 2023. The final grade sheet also shows the marks obtained. The PG Prospectus 2026-27 uses a conversion factor of 0.1 only to compute applicants' CGPA from percentage for admission ranking. CONTACT: head office line; Controller of Examinations 033-2463-0292.
