GPA calculator
Quick answer: TP grades each subject on a 4.0 scale and averages the grade points weighted by credit units. A failed subject that is later passed is replaced by the new grade. A non-graded pass (P) counts at 1.0, and up to the top 5% of a subject may be awarded Z (Distinction).

How TP calculates your GPA
GPA = sum of (credit units × subject grade point) ÷ sum of credit units, worked out as a semester GPA and a cumulative GPA (cGPA).
If you repeat a subject you failed, the new grade replaces the failed 0.0 in both GPAs — so enter only the latest attempt. The transcript still lists every attempt.
TP’s worked example uses subjects of 3 and 4 credit units.

Pass, Fail, Pass with Commendation, Aegrotat Pass and In Progress carry no grade point — leave those subjects out.
Diploma awards
The grading guide sets no GPA threshold for the diploma. It uses the cGPA for academic standing (below).
Where this table comes from
TP publishes this grading table in the academic guide of its School of Business. It is the only TP grading table on a public page; students in other schools should check it against the grade legend on their own results slip.
Academic standing and removal
A student receives an Academic Warning for failing a core subject once without yet passing it, for a cGPA below 1.0 in two consecutive semesters, or for not finishing by the ninth semester. A student is removed for a cGPA below 1.0 in three consecutive semesters, for not passing a TPFun, diploma core or required option subject in two attempts, or for exceeding the maximum time allowed. A reinstated student on Extended Probation must reach a cGPA of at least 1.0, or pass the failed subjects, by the end of that semester.
Converting to a US GPA or a percentage
The mark ranges above turn a module mark into a letter grade. TP publishes no formula for turning a cumulative GPA into a percentage. The site’s Singapore-to-US converter is built for university grades on the 5.0 scale, so it is not applied to polytechnic GPAs.
