How Adelphi University calculates GPA
Adelphi University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Adelphi grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Adelphi scale, A+ is awarded but capped at 4.0, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: Adelphi University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Courses repeated and completed Fall 2023 or later: only the most recent grade counts in the GPA. Repeats completed before Fall 2023: both the original and the repeat count. Only one successful completion counts toward earned credits.

Good to know
Latin honors start unusually low, at a 3.3 cumulative GPA, but need 56 graded Adelphi credits; probation is triggered by whichever is higher, the 2.0 university floor or the major’s own minimum (3.0 in Education).
Every figure here was read from Adelphi’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
