University of Akron calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Akron grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Akron scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: University of Akron uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
A student may repeat a course twice; only the grade from the last attempt is used in the cumulative GPA, though all attempts remain on the record.

Dean’s List
University of Akron names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.50 with 12 letter-graded credits (full-time); 6-11 letter-graded credits (part-time).
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation / dismissal: cumulative GPA below 2.0.
Dismissal: cumulative GPA below 2.0 for each of four consecutive semesters.
