How Augusta University calculates GPA
Augusta University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Augusta grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Augusta scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Augusta University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Academic standing
Institutional GPA below 2.00
Latin honors at graduation
| Honor | Requirement |
|---|---|
| cum laude | 3.50 |
| magna cum laude | 3.70 |
| summa cum laude | 3.90 |
Dean’s List
Augusta University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.50 with 12 or more hours of undergraduate coursework numbered 1000 or above.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation: Institutional GPA below 2.00.
Dismissal: A student on probation who misses the minimum is suspended for at least one semester; a second suspension results in dismissal..
The minimum cumulative GPA depends on how far through the degree a student is:
| Class level | Cumulative GPA |
|---|---|
| 0-29 credits | 1.00 |
| 30-59 credits | 1.60 |
| 60-89 credits | 1.90 |
| 90 and above | 2.00 |

Good to know
Augusta keeps two GPAs: an Institutional GPA in which a repeated course is replaced by the most recent attempt, and a Regents' GPA that counts every attempt.
Every figure here was read from Augusta’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
