College of Charleston calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The College of Charleston grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the College of Charleston scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: College of Charleston uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
All grades earned in repeated courses are included in GPA calculations (no grade replacement); students may repeat courses in which a D- or higher was earned.

Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation: 1.50 (0-29 credits earned).
Dismissal: suspension follows failure to show satisfactory improvement while on probation.
The minimum cumulative GPA depends on how far through the degree a student is:
