How Clemson University calculates GPA
Clemson University (South Carolina) calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Clemson grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: Clemson uses whole-letter grades only: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. No plus/minus in the GPA.
Failing grade: Clemson University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Academic forgiveness: an approved D/F course can be removed from the GPA calculation (it remains on the transcript).
Academic standing
Minimum 2.0 GPA. Only Clemson-taught courses count toward the Clemson GPA.
