How Cleveland State University calculates GPA
Cleveland State University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Cleveland State grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Cleveland State scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Cleveland State University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
For a repeated D or F, the most recent attempt counts and the earlier one ('Attempt Forgiven') is excluded from the GPA; for a repeat of a C or higher, all attempts count and the repeat policy does not apply. A course may be repeated at most twice.

Dean’s List
Cleveland State University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.25 with 12 or more credits per semester (full-time) or a 12-hour part-time step.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic notice / academic probation: cumulative GPA is below 2.0.
Dismissal: on academic notice the previous semester and failed to earn a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or a term GPA of 2.00 (suspension); academic separation follows a second suspension.

Good to know
Repeating a course only replaces the grade in the GPA when the original was a D or F; repeating a C or better keeps every attempt in the cumulative GPA.
