How University of Colorado Denver calculates GPA
University of Colorado Denver calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The CU Denver grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the CU Denver scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: University of Colorado Denver uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
No grade replacement — all attempts remain on the transcript and count in the GPA, though only one attempt applies toward graduation credit.
Academic standing
cumulative GPA below 2.000
Latin honors at graduation
There is no university-wide cut-off at University of Colorado Denver — each college sets its own. CU Denver sets Latin honors cutoffs separately per college (Business, Architecture & Planning, Arts & Media, Engineering/Design/Computing, School of Education & Human Development, Public Affairs) rather than as one university-wide figure.
Dean’s List
University of Colorado Denver names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.750 with 9 semester hours (6 in summer) in structured CLAS courses.
Published specifically for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS); other CU Denver colleges may set separate Dean's List criteria.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic warning / probation: cumulative GPA below 2.000.
Dismissal: failure to reach a 2.000 semester GPA while on Academic Monitoring leads to Academic Suspension (one year); readmission after suspension via transfer work requires 12 transferable credit hours at a cumulative GPA of at least 2.750.

Good to know
Latin honors at CU Denver are set independently by each college with its own GPA bands and residency-credit requirements rather than one university-wide standard.
Every figure here was read from CU Denver’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
