How Duquesne University calculates GPA
Duquesne University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Duquesne grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Duquesne scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Duquesne University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Students ordinarily may repeat courses in which D and F grades were received. All grades are retained on the permanent academic record, and the final attempt determines the student's status in the course for attempted credits, earned credits and completion of requirements; W and I grades do not count as final attempts. The catalog does not state explicitly whether earlier attempts are excluded from the QPA.
Academic standing
1.50-1.74 QPA (1-30 credits attempted); 1.75-1.84 QPA (31-60); 1.85-1.99 QPA (61-89). An Academic Warning band sits above probation at 1.75-1.99 QPA (1-30 credits) and 1.85-1.99 QPA (31-60 credits).

Dean’s List
Duquesne University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.5 with at least 12 credits exclusive of pass/no pass credits, on a full-time schedule.
Also requires no grade lower than C and no I or N grades
Academic probation and dismissal
Probation: 1.50-1.74 QPA (1-30 credits attempted); 1.75-1.84 QPA (31-60); 1.85-1.99 QPA (61-89). An Academic Warning band sits above probation at 1.75-1.99 QPA (1-30 credits) and 1.85-1.99 QPA (31-60 credits)..

Good to know
Duquesne's scale has no C- and no D-, so the drop from C (2.0) to D (1.0) is a full point, and standing thresholds tighten as credits accumulate rather than using one fixed 2.0 line.
