The FAU grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the FAU scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.67.
Failing grade: Florida Atlantic University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
FAU's forgiveness policy excludes the earlier grade from GPA computation (rather than averaging it in) when a course is retaken at FAU. Up to three forgiveness requests allowed as an undergraduate, no more than two at the 3000/4000 level.
Academic standing
cumulative or term GPA below 2.0 in any semester
Dean’s List
Florida Atlantic University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.5 with 12 credits of graded coursework, full-time load.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation: cumulative or term GPA below 2.0 in any semester.
Dismissal: continued failure to reach 2.0 GPA after suspension leads to dismissal; catalog gives no separate credit-hour table.
