George Washington University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The George Washington grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the George Washington scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: George Washington University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Undergraduates may repeat a course in which they received B- or below, with both attempts counted in the GPA (no replacement). Graduate students may not repeat a course in which they earned C- or above.

Dean’s List
George Washington University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.75 with 12 credits or more in the semester.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation (undergraduate); suspension for poor scholarship: semester or cumulative GPA below 2.0.
Dismissal: current semester GPA below 1.0, or two successive semesters without a semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
