How Georgia Institute of Technology calculates GPA
Georgia Institute of Technology calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Georgia Tech grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Georgia Tech scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Georgia Institute of Technology uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Undergraduate grade substitution excludes the original grade from the cumulative GPA calculation; both grades still appear on the transcript.
Academic standing
cumulative or term GPA below 2.00 (Warning); term GPA below 1.00 on 6+ graded hours places a student in good standing directly on probation
Latin honors at graduation

Dean’s List
Georgia Institute of Technology names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.00 with at least 12 hours of course work on a letter grade basis.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic warning / probation: cumulative or term GPA below 2.00 (Warning); term GPA below 1.00 on 6+ graded hours places a student in good standing directly on probation.
Dismissal: on probation with term GPA below 2.00 and cumulative GPA below 2.00.

Georgia Tech does not use plus/minus grading for undergraduates; only whole-letter grades A-F count toward GPA.
