How Gonzaga University calculates GPA
Gonzaga University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Gonzaga grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Gonzaga scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there is no D-.
Failing grade: Gonzaga University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
A retake at Gonzaga replaces the original: the first attempt stays on the transcript but is removed from the GPA, and cumulative credits and GPA reflect the most recent attempt. Independent study or directed reading retakes do not qualify.

Good to know
Gonzaga truncates the GPA to two decimals without rounding when deciding Latin honors, so a 3.499 does not become cum laude; the Dean's List is capped at 3.85, above which students go on the President's List instead.
Every figure here was read from Gonzaga’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
