Lamar University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Lamar grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Lamar scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Lamar University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Grade replacement: for a repeated course the higher grade is the official grade, though all attempts remain on the transcript.

Dean’s List
Lamar University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.5 or above with 12 or more semester hours (full-time).
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation / suspension / expulsion: Cumulative GPA below 2.00.
Dismissal: Suspension if semester GPA is below 2.00 while on probation; a third suspension results in expulsion.
