How Liberty University calculates GPA
Liberty University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Liberty grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Liberty scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all — only A, B, C, D and F.
Failing grade: Liberty University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
When an undergraduate course is repeated, all attempts remain on the transcript, but only the highest grade earned counts toward the GPA; there is no limit on the number of courses or retakes this applies to.

Dean’s List
Liberty University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.50 with 12 or more GPA hours in the term.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation (Academic Standing): minimum cumulative GPA rises by class level: 1.50 (0-23.99 hrs), 1.65 (24-47.99 hrs), 1.85 (48-71.99 hrs), 2.00 (72+ hrs).
Dismissal: falling below the applicable class-level minimum GPA in the table.

Liberty's undergraduate GPA scale uses only whole-letter grades (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0) with no plus/minus point values, and its Latin-honors cutoffs shift depending on how many credit hours a student earned at Liberty versus transferred in.
