How University of Louisville calculates GPA
University of Louisville calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Louisville grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Louisville scale, A+ is awarded but capped at 4.0, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: University of Louisville uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
A retake replaces the original grade in the GPA; only the most recent grade counts, though all attempts remain on the transcript.

Good to know
Several colleges (Music, Nursing, Speed Engineering, Social Work, Business, Public Health) set stricter unit-specific GPA floors than the 2.00 university-wide standard.
Every figure here was read from Louisville’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
