How Marshall University calculates GPA
Marshall University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Marshall grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Marshall scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Marshall University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
For a D or F grade earned no later than the term of the 90th attempted semester hour, repeating the course before the bachelor's degree disregards the original grade and uses only the repeat grade(s) for GPA.

Overall or Marshall GPA below 2.0
Latin honors at graduation

Dean’s List
Marshall University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.3 with 12 or more hours of A-F graded coursework.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation / suspension (quality point deficit): Overall or Marshall GPA below 2.0.
Dismissal: Exceeding maximum quality-point deficit for hours attempted results in one-semester suspension (no separate numeric permanent-dismissal GPA found).
The minimum cumulative GPA depends on how far through the degree a student is:
