How University of Michigan-Dearborn calculates GPA
University of Michigan-Dearborn calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Michigan-Dearborn grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Michigan-Dearborn scale, A+ is awarded but capped at 4.0, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7, and the failing grade is written E, not F.

Good to know
UM-Dearborn's failing grade is E, its A+ is capped at 4.0, and A+/D- are not used by CECS instructors (A+ also not used in CEHHS), so the usable scale differs by college.
Every figure here was read from Michigan-Dearborn’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
