The Montclair State grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Montclair State scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: Montclair State University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
The higher grade earned on a repeated course is the one counted in GPA; both attempts remain on the record but credit is counted once.

Dean’s List
Montclair State University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of top 10% of the student's college with at least 12 GPA-bearing credits in the term (or 6+ credits per term across two consecutive terms for part-time students).
Set per college: the cutoff is the top 10% of each college's own students, not one fixed university-wide GPA.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic notice: cumulative GPA below 2.00 (Academic Notice).
Dismissal: academic dismissal after failing to clear notice/continued-notice standards on readmission.
