How Murray State University calculates GPA
Murray State University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Murray State grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Murray State scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all, and the failing grade is written <strong>E</strong>, not F.
Failing grade: Murray State University uses "E" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Only the latest grade on a repeated course counts; the earlier attempt is excluded from the GPA.

Dean’s List
Murray State University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.50 with full-time enrollment in a fall or spring semester (no separate credit-hour figure published).
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation: Cumulative GPA below the value for the number of hours attempted (1.5 / 1.7 / 1.9 / 2.0).
Dismissal: Suspension after a probationary semester in which the student neither continues on probation nor is removed from it; a second suspension bars re-enrollment for two calendar years and a third is indefinite dismissal.
The minimum cumulative GPA depends on how far through the degree a student is:
