How University of Oklahoma calculates GPA
University of Oklahoma (Oklahoma) calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Oklahoma grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: Oklahoma uses whole-letter grades only: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. No plus/minus in the GPA.
Failing grade: University of Oklahoma uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Academic Forgiveness (repeat/reprieve/renewal): a retake can count only the second grade (even if lower) for up to four courses / 18 hours where the original was C, D, or F. Both attempts stay on the transcript.

Minimum 2.0 retention/graduation GPA. Standards set by the Oklahoma State Regents.

Dean’s List
University of Oklahoma names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.5 GPA with most colleges require at least 12 letter-graded credit hours (can vary by college).
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation: retention GPA below threshold by credit hours attempted: 1.70 for 0-29 attempted semester credit hours, 2.00 for more than 30 attempted hours.
Dismissal: a student on probation who fails to raise cumulative retention GPA to minimum requirements or make a 2.00 GPA on work taken while on probation will be suspended for poor scholarship.
The minimum cumulative GPA depends on how far through the degree a student is:
