How University of Oklahoma calculates GPA
University of Oklahoma (Oklahoma) calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Oklahoma grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: Oklahoma uses whole-letter grades only: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. No plus/minus in the GPA.
Failing grade: University of Oklahoma uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Academic Forgiveness (repeat/reprieve/renewal): a retake can count only the second grade (even if lower) for up to four courses / 18 hours where the original was C, D, or F. Both attempts stay on the transcript.
Academic standing
Minimum 2.0 retention/graduation GPA. Standards set by the Oklahoma State Regents.
Good to know
Oklahoma is a whole-letter school: the GPA uses A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0 with no plus/minus. Its Academic Forgiveness policy is notably generous — a repeat can replace the original grade (even if the new grade is lower) for up to four courses, and there are separate reprieve and renewal options.
