How University of Tampa calculates GPA
University of Tampa calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Tampa grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Tampa scale, the scale uses half-step letters rather than pluses and minuses, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: University of Tampa uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
All attempts of a repeated course remain on the transcript and are averaged into the cumulative GPA; the new grade does not replace the old one.

Good to know
Tampa does not use +/- grades; instead it grades on half-steps with combined letters AB, BC, and CD (4.0, 3.5, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0, 1.5, 1.0, 0.0), and summa cum laude requires a perfect 4.0.
Every figure here was read from Tampa’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
