How University of California, Irvine calculates GPA
University of California, Irvine (California) calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UC Irvine grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: UC Irvine follows the UC system rule: A+ is capped at 4.0 (same as A). Only A, B, C, D take +/- (no D-).
Failing grade: University of California, Irvine uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).

Follows UC repeat policy. Quarter system.
Academic standing
Minimum 2.0 UC GPA to graduate; GPA spans all UC campuses attended.
Latin honors at graduation
University of California, Irvine awards Latin honors by rank in the graduating class, not by a fixed GPA, so the GPA that earns each honor moves from year to year.

Dean’s List
University of California, Irvine names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.500 with 12 graded units per quarter.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic notice: Term GPA or cumulative GPA less than 2.0.
Dismissal: GPA below 1.5 for any quarter, or two consecutive quarters on academic notice without reaching a 2.0 cumulative GPA or satisfactory progress.
