The UMass Dartmouth grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the UMass Dartmouth scale, A+ is awarded but capped at 4.0, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
A course may normally be repeated once (a third attempt needs the Dean's written permission). Only the most recent grade, higher or lower, counts in the cumulative GPA; all attempts remain on the permanent record, and no course taken elsewhere can replace a UMass Dartmouth grade.

Dean’s List
University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.200 with 12 graded course credits (excluding administrative credits).
A separate Chancellor's List is awarded at 3.800 with the same 12-credit minimum.
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic Alert (formerly Academic Probation): cumulative GPA below 2.0.
Dismissal: cumulative GPA below 2.0 for a second consecutive semester without meeting the Extended Academic Alert criteria (semester GPA 2.3 or higher and two-thirds of attempted credits passed).
