How University of Missouri-Kansas City calculates GPA
University of Missouri-Kansas City calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UMKC grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the UMKC scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.
Failing grade: University of Missouri-Kansas City uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Both attempts count in the cumulative GPA by default; an undergraduate may request that only the final attempt be used. No more than 15 semester hours may be dropped from the GPA this way, and a course may be repeated for GPA purposes twice (three completions).

There is no university-wide cut-off at University of Missouri-Kansas City — each college sets its own. Cutoffs are set separately by each UMKC school/college; values are the Fall 2024-present table. Not awarded in graduate (master's/doctoral) programs.

University of Missouri-Kansas City names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of Varies by school, 3.500-3.950 (Pharmacy and University College 3.500; School of Science and Engineering 3.700; Dentistry, Humanities and Social Sciences, Nursing and Health Studies 3.850; Education/Social Work/Psychological Sciences 3.930; Bloch and Conservatory 3.950) with 12 graded hours.

Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation / academic ineligibility: UM grade-point average below 2.0.
Dismissal: Ineligible to re-enroll without academic-unit approval if not removed from probation within three successive semesters, or if the unit's required GPA is not maintained while on probation.

Latin honors and Dean's List cutoffs are set separately by each UMKC school and run as high as 3.950-4.000, and Latin honors are computed on only the last 60 hours earned at UMKC.
