How University of Missouri-Kansas City calculates GPA

University of Missouri-Kansas City calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.

The UMKC grade scale — what makes it specific

A+ rule: On the UMKC scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.7.

Failing grade: University of Missouri-Kansas City uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).

Repeated courses & grade replacement

Both attempts count in the cumulative GPA by default; an undergraduate may request that only the final attempt be used. No more than 15 semester hours may be dropped from the GPA this way, and a course may be repeated for GPA purposes twice (three completions).

Every figure here was read from UMKC’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
