How University of North Carolina at Charlotte calculates GPA
University of North Carolina at Charlotte calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UNC Charlotte grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the UNC Charlotte scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all — only A, B, C, D and F.
Failing grade: University of North Carolina at Charlotte uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Both the original and repeat grades stay on the transcript, but only the higher grade counts toward GPA. Applies automatically to the first two courses (max 8 credit hours) originally graded C or below; students may opt out.

Good to know
UNC Charlotte does not use plus/minus grading at all -- only whole-letter grades (A, B, C, D, F) count toward GPA.
Every figure on this page was read from UNC Charlotte’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so rather than presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
