How University of the People calculates GPA
University of the People calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UoPeople grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the UoPeople scale, A+ is awarded but capped at 4.0, so it cannot lift a GPA above 4.0, and there is no D-.
Failing grade: University of the People uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Only the highest grade earned on a repeated course counts toward cumulative GPA; all attempts remain on the transcript marked with an 'R'.
Academic standing

Good to know
Every figure on this page was read from UoPeople’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so rather than presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
