How University of Wisconsin-La Crosse calculates GPA
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UW-La Crosse grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the UW-La Crosse scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there is no D- — D is the lowest passing grade.
Failing grade: University of Wisconsin-La Crosse uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
For undergraduates, the highest grade earned in a repeated course is the one accepted into the GPA.

Good to know
UW-La Crosse departs from its sibling UW System campuses' standard +/- scale entirely, still using the classic Wisconsin half-step letters AB (3.50) and BC (2.50) instead of A-/B+/B-/C+ etc., with no A+ and no D-.
Sibling campuses in the same system are not a guide here. Every figure on this page was read from UW-La Crosse’s own registrar or catalog, because the campuses of this system genuinely differ — in the grading scale, in what counts when a course is repeated, and in where the honors cut-offs sit.
