How University of Wisconsin-Stout calculates GPA
University of Wisconsin-Stout calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The UW Stout grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the UW Stout scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and the scale runs down to D- at 0.67.
Failing grade: University of Wisconsin-Stout uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Highest grade replaces the original in the GPA; all attempts remain on the transcript.

Good to know
Renamed Academic Dismissal to Academic Suspension in Fall 2024, and grants a second probation semester to a student who earns 2.500 or higher on 12+ credits while on first probation.
Every figure here was read from UW Stout’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
