GPA
WGU does not have a GPA
Western Governors University does not calculate a GPA. WGU is competency-based: you either demonstrate competency in a course or you do not, and the transcript records Pass or Not Passed — never a grade point.
So there is nothing for this page to calculate, and any “WGU GPA” a generic calculator shows you is a number you made up, not an official figure. What WGU measures instead is on this page.
How Western Governors University calculates GPA
Western Governors University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The WGU grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: There is no scale to describe. A WGU course is marked Pass or Not Passed. A Pass means competency was demonstrated at a level WGU equates to a B or better, and a Not Passed carries no penalty in an average because there is no average.
Failing grade: Western Governors University records an unmet course as "Not Passed".
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Retaking a course means being reassessed for competency. There is no grade to replace and no earlier attempt averaged in, because nothing is averaged.
Academic standing
measured by Satisfactory Academic Progress rather than a GPA: a cumulative pass rate or completed competency-unit rate below 66.67% triggers a warning
Latin honors at graduation
Western Governors University does not award Latin honors. WGU's institutional catalog describes a competency-based Pass / Not Passed record with no grade points, and lists no Latin-honors award.
Academic probation and dismissal
Satisfactory Academic Progress (WGU has no GPA-based probation): a cumulative pass rate, or completed competency units, below 66.67% of those attempted.
Dismissal: continued failure to meet the 66.67% standard after a warning term ends financial-aid eligibility.

Good to know
If an employer, a graduate programme or a scholarship asks you for a GPA, WGU cannot supply one, and you should say so rather than estimating. WGU's registrar will confirm in writing that the institution does not compute grade point averages; that letter is what applications generally want.
Some evaluators will accept a converted figure from a third-party service. That number is the service's construction, not WGU's, and this site will not manufacture one for you.
