How Wright State University calculates GPA
Wright State University calculates GPA as a credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by total credits. The detail that matters is the grade scale.
The Wright State grade scale — what makes it specific
A+ rule: On the Wright State scale, there is no A+ — A = 4.0 is the top grade, and there are no plus or minus grades at all.
Failing grade: Wright State University uses "F" for a failing grade (0.0).
Repeated courses & grade replacement
Only the last attempt counts in earned hours and the cumulative GPA, up to a lifetime maximum of five grade replacements; after that every grade counts. For graduation-honors GPA, only the first grade earned in a course is used.

Latin honors at graduation
| Honor | Requirement |
|---|---|
| summa cum laude | 3.90 |
| magna cum laude | 3.70 |
| cum laude | 3.50 |
Dean’s List
Wright State University names students to its Dean’s List at a term GPA of 3.50 with 6 or more gradable, undergraduate credit hours.
University-wide; a separate President's List requires a 4.00 term GPA on the same credit minimum
Academic probation and dismissal
Academic probation / dismissal: Wright State GPA below 2.0 after 12 attempted hours.
Dismissal: Eligible for dismissal if a student on probation fails to reach a cumulative 2.0 in the subsequent term of enrollment.

Good to know
Grade replacement is capped at five courses for a whole career, and the honors GPA deliberately ignores replacements - only the first grade earned in a repeated course counts toward Latin honors.
Every figure here was read from Wright State’s own registrar or catalog. Where a rule is set by an individual college rather than the institution, the page says so instead of presenting one college’s number as everyone’s.
