Because their class bands are stated in percentage, a student cannot know their class without applying the formula — the opposite of the B.Tech case, where percentage is a derived convenience. Class is awarded on CGPA, not percentage: First Class with Distinction ≥ 7.5, First Class 6.5–<7.5, Second Class 5.5–<6.5, Pass Class 5.0–<5.5. No supplementary-appearance bar on Distinction. Non-credit audit courses are marked Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory and excluded from SGPA/CGPA/percentage. Honors requires 15 additional credits and CGPA 7 with no backlogs. || ⚠️ THE REGULATION STATES THE CONVERSION TWICE AND THE TWO VERSIONS DISAGREE. §20(iv) reads 'Equivalent Percentage = (CGPA-0.5) x 100'; §21 reads '(CGPA – 0.5) x 10'. THE × 100 IS A TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR — it would give 750% for a CGPA of 8.0. §21 is correct and consistent with the class bands, with every other AP regulation, and with arithmetic. If a transcript or employer query is ever contested on the basis of §20(iv), point to §21 and the Award of Class table. || ⚠️ THIS FORMULA IS FOR B.TECH. The M.Tech and MCA regulations use the SAME CONSTANT but award class on PERCENTAGE, not CGPA — Distinction ≥ 70%, First Class 60–<70%, Pass 50–<60%, with no Second Class — and use a 50% pass mark with no E grade.
