How CGPA is calculated at Kannur University
Your CGPA is a credit-weighted average of your grade points across all semesters. In short:
- Compute your CGPA on Kannur University's six-point PG CBCSS scale (grade points 5–9; maximum 9), as the credit-weighted average of grade points.
- Multiply the CGPA by 10 and add 5 to get the empirical percentage of marks (Clause 8.5).
- Example: a CGPA of 8.0 gives (8.0 × 10) + 5 = 85%.
- Reverse: subtract 5 from a known percentage, then divide by 10 to recover the CGPA.
- Overall grade (Clause 8.6): CGPA ≥ 8.5 A+, 7.5–8.5 A, 6.5–7.5 B+, 5.5–6.5 B, 4.5–5.5 C; A+/A → First Class with Distinction, B+/B → First Class, C → Second Class.
Worked example. Applying % = (CGPA × 10) + 5 (PG CBCSS, 6-point scale, max GP 9), a CGPA of 8.0 converts to 85%.
