No published conversion for Utkal University, Bhubaneswar

This institution states that no CGPA-to-percentage formula applies. Utkal University officially says no CGPA-to-percentage formula is needed: the mark sheet shows marks for every paper, so % = total marks obtained ÷ total maximum marks × 100. Do not use ×10 or ×9.5.

The 2021 notification covers P.G. Department (CBCS) students, IMCA/TED/TCMR/RIE and LL.B. For UG (B.A./B.Com./B.Sc.) in affiliated colleges, Utkal's own CBCS regulation (w.e.f. admission batch 2016-17) also has no conversion clause — cl. 5.4: 'In addition to the points marks/ percentage would also be awarded and shall also be reflected in the Mark Sheet.' Caution: the later Odisha State Model UG CBCS Regulation (2019-20), cl. 9.5, gives (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 for CGPA > 4; Utkal has not posted it, so whether it applies to Utkal UG batches from 2019-20 is unconfirmed — use the percentage on the mark sheet. NEW (2026): for NEP-2020 undergraduates admitted 2024-25 onwards, Utkal now posts the Odisha model 'Curriculum and Credit Framework' UG regulation on its own site, which gives: 'Equivalent Percentage of Mark = (CGPA - 0.50) X10 (for CGPA > 4.5 and CGPA ≤10); = CGPA X10 (for CGPA ≤4.5)' — those students may use that rule (see the ekamracollege entry for a calculator).

What to do instead: ask the examination section or controller of examinations for a conversion certificate. Most institutions issue one on request, and an employer or university will accept that where they will not accept an estimate.

Source & verification

Formula withdrawn. Previously cited: Utkal University, Controller of Examinations (Shri Sharat Kumar Majhi), 'Notification regarding conversion of CGPA' (posted 05-08-2021; number and date illegible on the scan), for passed-out CBCS students of the P.G. Departments and of IMCA, TED, TCMR and RIE, Bhubaneswar: the mark sheets contain both grade and marks against each paper, so 'the approximation formula for conversion of CGPA to approximate percentage is not necessary as the mark sheet speaks the exact percentage of secured marks'. A second 2021 CoE notification says the same for LL.B. students: percentage = marks awarded ÷ total marks × 100.

Frequently asked questions

Does Utkal University, Bhubaneswar publish a CGPA to percentage formula?
No. No conversion formula has been located in Utkal University, Bhubaneswar's own published regulations, ordinances or examination documents, so no percentage is calculated on this page.
How do I get an official percentage from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar?
Ask Utkal University, Bhubaneswar's examination office or Controller of Examinations for a CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate. That certificate, not an estimate, is what an employer or university will accept.
Why does this page show no calculator?
Because a number would have to be invented to fill it. Where an institution states no conversion, this site says so rather than applying another institution's rule and presenting the result as if it were official.
