Worked example
The official Aditya University, Surampalem formula is % = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 ('Percentage of Marks = (CGPA - 0.5) x 10') — Aditya University Academic Regulations 2025/2026 (B.Tech., M.Tech., MCA, MBA, BBA, BCA, B.Sc., Pharmacy). Starting from a percentage of 75%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8 on the 10-point scale. Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
