Converting Global Group of Institutes, Amritsar percentage back to CGPA
Global Group of Institutes, Amritsar (Punjab) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (for April/May 2020 session and later pass-outs; ×9.5 for earlier cohorts). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.
Worked example
The official Global Group of Institutes, Amritsar formula is % = CGPA × 10 (for April/May 2020 session and later pass-outs; ×9.5 for earlier cohorts). Starting from a percentage of 76%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 7.6 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 7.6 through the forward Global Group of Institutes, Amritsar CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 76%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
Source & verification
I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University's own official Notification (Ref. IKGPTU/REG/NF/2209, dated 30 January 2021), hosted on the university's own site (ptu.ac.in) and signed by the Registrar, states verbatim: 'it has been implemented that multiple[r] factor 10 will be applicable instead of 9.5 for conversion from CGPA to Percentage for all students of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University from April/May 2020 examination session and onwards pass out students.' The college's own NAAC Self-Study Report (2018-19), hosted on globalinstitutes.edu.in, explicitly confirms: 'The Institute is affiliated to IKGPTU and follows the Examination pattern of the university. IKGPTU guidelines are strictly adhered to with respect to evaluation process' -- so despite being labeled autonomous, this college does NOT set its own distinct formula (unlike SMVEC or Oriental College elsewhere in this registry).
PRIVATE, UGC-AUTONOMOUS ENGINEERING/MANAGEMENT/PHARMACY/LAW/PARAMEDICAL COLLEGE (Global Institute of Management & Emerging Technologies, GIMET) — established 2008. NAAC 'A+' grade. Multi-affiliated: primarily IKGPTU (Engineering, most programs), with additional affiliation to Guru Nanak Dev University and PSBTE&IT Chandigarh for certain other programs (e.g. Pharmacy, Polytechnic diplomas) -- if a student is on the GNDU-affiliated track rather than IKGPTU, GNDU's own formula (x8.9, confirmed elsewhere in this registry) would apply instead. COHORT-DEPENDENT FORMULA (IKGPTU track): pass-outs before April/May 2020 used the older x9.5 multiplier; only April/May 2020 session and later use x10.
